Beautiful Belize

This was my last dive trip before the pandemic. News of a strange virus of the Wuhan was just surfacing as we were pulling into port on our final day. Andy Carter, the president and CEO of a hospital system, was receiving calls of concern from several colleagues. At the time, none of us knew this would be our last dive drive in a very long time.

One of my favorite aspects of diving is the different people you meet. While it was great to meet up with my existing diving buddies, Barb & Sue, there were another 13 other guests who I had a chance to meet. My roommate was a very interesting Canadian named Jay Danbrie. Jay has been harvesting maple syrup in Milton Ontario for many years and decided to take his two daughters on their first Aggressor experience. They had a great time.

During our week I learned so much about Danbrie Farms and how independent farmers like them help deliver some of the best maple syrup on the planet. Diving is not just about exploring an amazing underwater world, but it’s about sharing the experience with others. Along the way I learned that life’s too short for imitation maple syrup.

I really enjoyed this trip. Although we didn’t get a chance to visit the Blue Hole, everyone had an amazing time diving together and seeing so much amazing aquatic life. I can’t wait to go back.
